I met an angel at the grocery
in the form of an old man named Ted.
He told me to go to Hollywood,
because those hollywood girls “have nothing” on me.
He said when I am 65 I might have regrets,
I might realize that life has passed me by.
He said to go to Cali,
go to Cali and touch the sky.
“Maybe. I’ll try.”
“Never say try, because you deserve the best,
you’re something special,
something unique,” He said.
As we parted ways in the parking lot,
I wondered where Ted had been hiding his wings
and where I had put my shopping receipt.
